Estate Intel aims at being a one stop data repository hub for all commercial real estate information in Africa. Prior to joining the Estate Intel team, they had rolled out an information website and the product's web-app. Driving conversion was difficult as most users upon landing on the website don't understand what Estate Intel does or how it could help their business. Also, upon sign up in the app, a lot more feedback were received on how difficult it is to navigate the app.

UX Design
My tasks on the job were:
1. improve the user experience on the web app based on documented feedback from users + develop a free trial experience to demonstrate enough value for easy conversion of users on free tier to paid plans.
2. improve the information architecture on the product's information website.
I started by trying to improve the onboarding experience from the website to the product because more than 80% of registered users did not complete their profile upon sign up. Also, the broader goal of improving the UX of the app is tied to knowing who exactly the users are upon signup and then tailoring the app experience to make them achieve their set goals faster.
It's also imperative to request for profile information from already existing users. To solve that, I designed quick transitions that happens when you log in to the app as an existing user.
To demonstrate enough value, convincing enough to convert free tier users to paid users; we had lots of sessions around answering the question (what's the best way to achieve it?). We agreed on a "Feature Result Limit" approach; it works in a way where we reveal just about enough data (3-5 results on tables) on the different features of the app to allow for users to play with and we place a paywall to urge them to get converted to paid users before they could have access to all the data we have on the app.
Designing Free Trial Experience Around Maps Was The Most Interesting Part of My Job
Maps is the most interesting feature on the Estate Intel app; its also the most played with amongst users. To design for a free trial experience around it. I read up on Google Map Documentation to find out the best way to limit map controls when users are engaging with the map feature. Upon clicking any of the marker, by default there's a pinned property underneath but I layered a marker block on it to let the user know that the pinnned property can't be viewed because they are on the free tier plan.
What happens after a user converts to a paid user?
I also worked on the revamping the entire website to better sell the product's value proposition.
